Your Own Private Piece of Lapland

Karu Lodge’s private fell and forest area offers space to experience Lapland in peace and on nature’s own terms. The area is not part of a public tourist trail – the forests, fell and grounds are reserved for Karu Lodge guests.

Old-growth forests, the silence of the fell, the dark Arctic sky and just the right distance from the busier tourist resorts make this place feel like a world of its own – surrounded by authentic Lapland nature.

At the foot of the fell, next to the national park, you will find Karu Lodge – a private piece of authentic Lapland surrounded by ancient forests and Arctic fell landscapes.

Join us for winter forest and fell experiences on our private land, gather around an open fire, enjoy the flavours and silence of Lapland, or end your day in the gentle heat of a traditional Finnish smoke sauna, followed by an icy dip and a warm outdoor hot tub. You are welcome to experience the nature of Lapland with us even if you are staying elsewhere.

You can join a small-group experience or reserve an experience exclusively for your own party. If you wish to stay longer, Karu Lodge also offers peaceful accommodation surrounded by Lapland nature.

Here, there is no need to rush from one activity to the next – there is time to slow down, wonder and experience the real Lapland.

The Charm of an Old Logging Cabin

At the heart of Karu Lodge stands an atmospheric 1950s logging cabin. Originally located in the Naarmankaira wilderness and later moved to its present home, the old log building brings guests together in a warm and unhurried setting surrounded by Lapland nature.

Gather around steaming pots of food, warm up after a day of Arctic adventures or simply spend time by the fireplace. The old log walls and the history of the building create an atmosphere you can feel the moment you step inside.

The cabin also serves as a private dining venue and can be hired for celebrations and other private events, with or without catering. There is seating for around 50 guests, with larger groups also possible depending on the type of event.

Stay at the Foot of the Fell

At Tervakko, you can enjoy a peaceful stay surrounded by Lapland nature. Spacious shared living areas, six bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen make it a comfortable base for a holiday with family or friends.

Relax in Smoke Sauna Susi

By the pond, authentic Finnish smoke sauna Susi awaits with its gentle heat. Step from the warmth of the sauna into the icy water, relax by the fire in the fireplace room, and, if you wish, add a warm outdoor hot tub to the experience.

You can reserve the smoke sauna privately for your own group or combine it with one of Karu Lodge’s Lapland experiences.
